From Manuscript to Published Book.
BookPublishersNYC.com turns an author’s manuscript into a professionally prepared book through individual publishing services. The author submits the manuscript, BookPublishersNYC.com assesses what the book needs, the author selects the services, the services are carried out, and the book is prepared for publication with publishing setup support within the agreed scope.
Not every author needs every service, and no service is mandatory. A service agreement and a confidentiality agreement are signed, and the advance payment is received, before work begins. Authors keep ownership of their books.
The Manuscript-to-Book Journey in
Six Steps.
Every project follows the same path, whichever services the author chooses.
Submit the manuscript
The author sends the manuscript or raw document and describes the goals for the book through the quote request.
Assess the needs
BookPublishersNYC.com reviews the manuscript and talks with the author by phone and email to identify which services the book needs.
Select the services
The author chooses individual services or a package. The quote states the deliverables, the billing basis and the exclusions.
Carry out the work
Each selected service is carried out and delivered for the author’s review and approval.
Prepare the book for publication
Files and listing details are prepared for the author’s chosen formats and platforms.
Support the publication
Publishing setup and distribution assistance are provided within the agreed scope. Each platform decides whether to accept the book.
How Every Project Starts:
Quote, Agreements and Advance Payment.
No work begins until the agreements are signed and the advance payment is received.
The sequence protects both the author and BookPublishersNYC.com, and it is the same for every service and every package.
-
Request a quote
The author describes the manuscript, its word count, the services of interest and the formats planned.
-
Receive the quote
The quote states the deliverables, the billing basis, the price and the exclusions for each service.
-
Sign the service agreement and the NDA
Before work beginsThe Publishing Services Agreement sets out the scope, fees, approvals and ownership. The Non-Disclosure Agreement protects the manuscript and project files. Both are signed before work begins.
-
Make the advance payment
Before work beginsThe author pays the advance stated in the agreement. The agreement also states the payment milestones and due dates.
-
The project begins
Production starts once the agreements are signed and the advance payment is received.
Turnaround times are approximate and depend on complete files, payment and approvals. For the payment terms of the publishing packages, see the publishing packages page.
How the Seven Services
Fit Together.
The services follow the usual order of production. An author can buy any one of them or any combination, and each has its own page with its scope, rates and turnaround.
-
Editing improves the manuscript’s content, structure, language and consistency.
-
Proofreading checks the final text for surface errors, before layout and again on the formatted pages.
-
Formatting lays out the approved text as a print interior and an ebook file.
-
Cover design produces the ebook, paperback and hardcover covers. Print covers need the final page count from formatting.
-
Publishing setup prepares the files and listings and submits the book to the chosen platforms.
-
Marketing positions the book for its readers, before and after release.
-
Audiobook production turns the finished book into an audio edition.
The three publishing packages combine cover design, formatting and publishing setup. Editing and proofreading are always priced separately.

Approximate Turnaround
Times.
Each service has an approximate production time. These are estimates and not guaranteed delivery dates.
| Service | Approximate turnaround | What it depends on |
|---|---|---|
| Book cover design | 2 days | Complete information and the author’s approvals |
| Book formatting | 2–3 weeks | An approved manuscript and the formats chosen |
| Book proofreading | 2–3 weeks | The length of the manuscript and the stage proofread |
| Book editing | About 3-4 weeks | The manuscript’s length and the type and complexity of the editing |
| Audiobook production | About 4–5 weeks | The manuscript’s length, narrator availability and production requirements |
| Book marketing | 1, 2 or 3 months | The length of the engagement the author books |
Estimated production time is not a guaranteed delivery date. Times assume that BookPublishersNYC.com has received complete files, the required information, payment and the author’s approvals.
No single turnaround applies to a whole package or to publishing setup, because the time depends on the services included.
Communication, Final File Delivery and
Support After Delivery.
Authors work with BookPublishersNYC.com by phone and email, and the support continues after the files are delivered.
Talking with us
The assessment of what a book needs happens by phone and email. Authors can call during working hours, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and can use the same phone and email contact throughout the project.
Final file delivery
Once the agreed fees are paid, the final files are delivered by email or Dropbox. Audiobooks are delivered as MP3 files.
Support after delivery
Authors who buy cover design or formatting can ask for help if they run into sizing or bleed problems with the delivered files. BookPublishersNYC.com resolves those issues, whether the author publishes independently or through another company.
Authors can contact the team whenever they need help with the files.
Confidentiality, Ownership
& Privacy.
Three safeguards apply to every project, whichever services the author chooses. Your intellectual property and privacy are rigorously protected throughout the entire process.
Confidentiality under the NDA
The Non-Disclosure Agreement is signed before work begins. It protects the author’s unpublished manuscript, plot details, book concepts, business information, account information and project files. BookPublishersNYC.com uses them only to evaluate or deliver the agreed services. It shares them only with personnel who need them for the work and are bound by confidentiality obligations, and it applies reasonable security measures to electronic files.
Ownership of the book
Authors keep ownership of their books. The agreements state that providing services does not transfer ownership of a book, and that BookPublishersNYC.com does not take a percentage of royalties for its services.
